DIGITAL & PRINT DESIGN

PBS POV

POV (a cinema term for “point of view”) is television’s longest-running showcase for independent non-fiction films.

POV premieres 14-16 of the best, boldest and most innovative programs every year on PBS. June, 2019 premiered Season 32 of the show. PBS POV needed digital and printed materials to promote and support the launch of the upcoming season.

These include; Posters, Postcards, Print Ads, Gala Booklet & Social Media templates.

THE CHALLENGE

Same, but different.

PBS POV iconic logo pattern represented and reflected a camera lens and most importantly, a film’s content; a playful spiral for a film about children, or an ornamental pattern for a historical documentary. In past Season’s print and digital materials, this has always been used as the key element in each deliverable but designed in a fresh and different way. Thus, driving brand consistency and awareness each year.

APPROACH AND SOLUTION

Disruptive Perspective.

In digital assets, posters and advertising print campaigns, the main element “O” is usually filled with stills from specific films in the series. While keeping this specific motif, I decided to break away from the traditional shape and create a collage with mixed lens shapes and focus lines to create depth, creating a new perspective for Season 32.
